Golf Balls - How to Choose
Finding the right kind of golf balls may be a difficult decision for a lot of people. There are many different types of brands and styles available on the market today. Some balls may be different colors, have more dimples, or a higher compression than others. They can basically be broken down into two categories, recreational and advanced.
Recreational balls are directed toward the novice or high handicapped golfers. These golfers generate lower swing speeds in order to control the trajectory and accuracy of the shot. Recreational balls also reduce side spin and have a lower compression. The two layered balls have a firm outside covering with a softer core. These are generally the cheapest balls on the market.
The characteristics of advanced balls are much different than those of recreational ones. Advanced balls are made of several layers, usually over three, with a firmer core and soft outside covering. This allows the golf to generate a lot of spin from high trajectory shots with short irons and wedges. These balls require a higher swing speed in order to guarantee the greatest amount of distance. The downside of advanced balls is that they are usually more expensive than recreational balls.
