Look Like a Professional with Proper Golf Attire

Golf is a game of discipline and respect, and your golf attire should reflect it. Consequently, courses and country clubs have dress codes that you will be expected to follow. Some courses are more strict than others, so if you have any doubts, contact them ahead of time for any specific requirements. Remember, just because you are a "common man" does not necessarily mean you have to look like one. And yes, you can do it affordably. Below is a list of generally accepted golf attire.

1. A golf shirt with a collar; no tanks or T-shirts; shirt should be tucked in.

2. Shorts that do not hang past the knees, preferably in a neutral color with belt loops; no denim, gym shorts, or cut-offs.

3. Wear a leather belt.

4. Wear proper golf shoes with soft spikes; almost every course has outlawed metal spikes because of the wear and tear on the greens.

5. If wearing slacks, your socks should match your pants. If wearing shorts, wear light colored socks with white or saddle shoes; black socks with black shoes.

6. Hats are not mandatory but serve to keep the sun off of your face and out of your eyes which will improve your vision; baseball style or straw golf hats are the way to go.

7. Brightly colored attire is appropriate if you do not over do it. Pairing one neutral color with one bright color is your best bet.

8. If you like plaids or patterns, keep them to one element of your attire.

9. A golf sweater, vest, or jacket is appropriate if playing in cooler weather.
